Two reports came out just the other week. The first suggested that there is a connection between well-being and faith. It found that elderly folk who were members of a live faith community were much more able to deal with health issues and living. It appears, that, apart from the spiritual dimension, belonging to a faith group increases your likelihood of general well- being because you have a group of people around you who are generally supportive. The other report suggested that levels of anxiety and stress among young people has never been so high. It is a strange world that can see so many with countless benefits living with anxiety levels not evident in generations before. Modern medicine and science has contributed enormously to our present situation and we should thank God for it. Technology is remarkable in that at the press of a button we can keep in constant touch with children, grandchildren and friends across the globe. It also contributes in millions of way in our daily living from the press of button on an elevator to the switch on the kettle for our tea.
Yes, we live in a remarkable age in a remarkable country, surrounded (most of us) with good friends and family) maybe we don’t thank God enough.
