Most recently we have mentioned the work of the Lodging House Mission a great deal as it is a charity this kirk has been long associated with and given much support to. It is at the very core of our being in that the Incarnation demands we see in the struggling something of the person of Christ. As a kirk we have tried to put that understanding of the Incarnation into our practice in supporting the LHM. Over the years we have also developed support for other charities – the Preschal Trust being one and Glasgow City Mission another. Many of you support other charities in a personal capacity and so we extend the blessings we have been given by God with others.
Another charity on our doorstep has asked for support and it is the South West Food Bank. Marco Gaudoin has written about it in this edition of our magazine. You are already so more than generous, but consider how you can help this charity.
The world is a hard place for many and it needs the support of good men and women to make it a kinder, better place for all. Please don’t see this extra appeal as an added burden but rather yet another lovely way to serve our Lord. In Matthew 25 we are told those who help the least of the Christ’s people will be welcomed into the Kingdom of God.
May God bless you all in the days ahead.
