Agnedas are pushed everywhere and at every level. Some with good cause; many because of the thirst for power. In our scriptures we have a very telling story [the Temptation Narrative] of Jesus rejecting power. The story is told because Jesus was, on many occasions, put in a position where he could have pushed the agenda of self-aggrandisement as opposed to the agenda given to him by God. The miracle of healing, the miracle of the feeding of the vast crowd, the miracle of restoring life not only to Lazarus, but the official's daughter - these were all opportunities for power; opportunities for Jesus to push his agenda for his kingdom. Instead, he chose to use these situations, not as moments for him to show off but to show the compassion and love of God for His people. The temptation is always to be the "mains man" and politicians with their vision of their world are more prone to it than most. Jesus demonstrated the Kingdom of God is one of love, of peace, of hope regardless of whatever boundary you propose. What the politicians forget - God's Kingdom has no boundaries.
